  • To provide an outlet for creative works.
  • To support and promote future writers, journalists, and artists.
  • To expand the homeschool community.

WHAT IS THE GRIFFIN?

The Griffin is a literary and art magazine featuring the works of homeschool middle school students published biannually. Issues of The Griffin will include short stories, essays, poems, and images by homeschool middle school students, grades 5th-8th. The magazine is managed by Callie Brock, and her mother, Amy Brock, based in Huntsville, Alabama.

In early 2017, Amy began working with her son to create an online high school literary magazine, The Phoenix. She began getting requests for The Phoenix to expand and create a literary magazine for younger students. In addition, her daughter expressed an interest in collaborating with them for a literary magazine for students her own age. Hence, The Griffin.

The Griffin hopes to recognize homeschool creativity by publishing literature and art online from around the world, providing the homeschool community a common space. The magazines first issue is planned for December 2017.
